Six divisions all talking the same language
These days, Bretts is structured around six major divisions, each one stemming from our timber and hardware origins. These diverse businesses cover retail, manufacturing, sawmilling, wholesaling and export.
Bretts Timber & Hardware
Bretts offers one of the largest ranges of building products and general hardware in Brisbane. We're talking everything from kitchen and bathroom products, windows and doors, decking and flooring, door handles and locks, gardening and outdoor goods, to electrical products, paint, tools, timber and other building materials.
We've also developed an extensive ‘Deck-Door-Floor' showroom, to help you streamline the building design process. This impressive stand-alone showroom features an extensive range of decking, doors, flooring and window options. Many of these are shown ‘in-situ' to give you a better idea of how these elements would come together in your own home.
For more than 60 years, Bretts Architectural has supplied the domestic and commercial building industry with a vast range of architecturally designed hardware products. Our architectural hardware showroom is Queensland's largest, displaying 1,500 sets of door knobs and levers, handles and cupboard knobs.
Of course, we also have specialist staff available who will be happy to talk you through your options - from framing to finishes. So come in and talk to one of our people at the Bretts Timber & Hardware store at Windsor - or continue looking round our website.

Bretts Doors & Windows
Bretts manufactures high-quality, made-to-order aluminium joinery products for a wide range of applications. Our aluminium doors and windows are extremely low maintenance, never needing to be painted or stained. And they're not going to warp or shrink either.
Aluminium joinery also offers the security of superb strength, through quality materials and method of manufacturer. This ensures greater resistance to wind pressure and building movement, and helps combat forced entry or damage.
You can select from an endless choice of colours, sizes and styles, depending on the design application you have in mind.
Windows and doors include: Sliding, Stacking, Double Hung, ClearVENT Sashless, Awning, Casement, Bi-fold, LouvreMASTER®, Box, Bay and Garden Windows. Or you can custom design your own door and window products.

Bretts Frame & Truss
Believe it or not, the more timber you use in your new home, the greener it will be. The production of timber products used to build a house actually results in far fewer greenhouse gas emissions than in the manufacture of comparative concrete, steel, brick, tile or aluminium components.
And trees store carbon too. So by building as much timber as possible into a home, you are actually sequestering carbon and preventing it from escaping as harmful CO2.
Bretts continue to commission new equipment for the Bretts Frame & Truss plant to keep up with demand and ensure we are operating a modern, state-of-the-art plant with leading edge technology.
With a dedicated estimating and detailing team on site, you can also be sure that plan take-offs are accurately and seamlessly transferred into quotation, and ultimately, finished products.
Bretts Trade Distribution
The new Bretts Trade Distribution Centre (TDC) markets a range of builder's hardware and non-structural timber products to Queensland larger project builders.
The basic premise behind the Bretts Trade Distribution Centre is to be able to offer a narrow range of products at competitive prices with extremely short lead times, in order to fulfill the needs of this specific customer group.
The Trade Distribution Centre offers the extreme convenience for larger project builders to place "package orders" of Bretts' normal builder's hardware lines, frame and truss products, and even electrical appliances. This will simplify both paperwork and delivery of these products, off the customer the ease of dealing with one, rather than several, suppliers.
Bretts Cypress Sawmill
Bretts Cypress Sawmill is located at Inglewood, approximately three hours drive south west of Brisbane, and with a population of around 3,000, including the surrounding shire. Primary industries in town are agriculture and sawmilling, and Bretts is the second largest employer with 21 staff.
To produce finished flooring, decking, cladding and landscaping products, Bretts only processes Cypress Pine at the plant. This is a native softwood, naturally durable and resistant to termite attack.
Traditionally, 90 percent of all our production has gone into the Sydney market as tongue and grooved flooring. In recent years, however, we have expanded into new markets, and presently sell flooring, decking, cladding and landscaping products in all mainland states, as well as exporting to Japan and the United States.
The diagram below illustrates, in simple terms, the process of turning forest into finished product. However the intricacies of that process are far from simple. For more information please read "From forest to flooring: inside the Inglewood Cypress Sawmill"
We are pleased to announce that Bretts recently received Australian Forestry Standard (AFS) chain of custody (CoC) approval for product from the Bretts Inglewood Cypress Sawmill. The AFS ensures that only trees that have been selected under very strict guidelines and removed from the bush in a manner that is least impactful on the remaining flora and fauna. Bretts is now only the second Cypress mill in the world to achieve this certification!
